In 1998 wast the start of my Vision. To get the youth of our community working together on achieving something positive. This started the Vision 'N' Vibe Fashion Shows. The Vibe is the music, which is always an avenue to attract young people. This was a great start to promote community events and assist in raising funds for various charities and organizations. After a couple of years doing the fashion shows, I found this to be very trying yet rewarding experience. Seeing the community come together to volunteer their time and efforts was inspiring to me. It was nice hearing youth ask 'when is the next VNV event' or 'how can I volunteer'. This positive feedback encouraged me to branch out and have more events for the children, youth and community.
I have to thank Queen Cee, Inez Thompson and Judith Powell who have been there for me since day one; always willing to do more than their share. We are a great group of ladies who are dedicated to promoting events which include young children and the youth of our community. We want to encourage unity, community involvement, social awareness, responsibility , positivitiy and confidence among our youth and within our community.
I must not leave out the volunteers who are always their whenever the need arises. Special THANK YOU to all who have ever volunteered or assisted VNV in any way, shape or form, it is much appreciated and we hope you will continue to volunteer your time with us.
Our charity of choice is Camp Jumoke. This is a camp for children suffering from the Sickle Cell Disease. Please visit their site for more information.
I hope you will support Vision 'N' Vibe in its efforts to promote a positive community for our young people.
